Here's one of the greatest screen monologues in history. From the opening of The King of Marvin Gardens, Jack Nicholson is a nerdy radio host who relates a bizarre childhood story about his grandfather. This scene is told with one shot that goes on for five minutes and forty seconds... nothing but Nicholson's face filling the screen for that duration. So simple, yet daring, understated yet powerful. They sure don't make them like this now.
